Medical Massage/Manual Therapy- The application of a specific treatment targeted to the problem(s) a patient presents with a diagnosis (via a prescription from a doctor). The treatment is administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by a Medical Massage Practitioner with outcomes being the basis for the treatment. Medical/Manual therapy modalities are performed with the intent on improving a medical condition diagnosed and/or prescribed by a physician.
Muscle/Myofascial Release- The Muscle Release TechniqueSM is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain in one treatment. With the Muscle Release TechniqueSM scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.
Trigger Point Therapy- TrP is used to alleviate chronic pain & dysfunction during a therapeutic session with complementary techniques. A trigger point is a firm, highly irritable spot or spots of tight bands of muscle or fascia characterized by tenderness, pain referral & loss of ROM. Musculoskeletal dysfunction is a result of any active repetitive activity or in many cases, inactivity. Hypertonicity, continuous muscle tightness & sustained inhibition, continuous muscle weakness are the two most common causes of muscle dysfunction.
Active Release Technique- A.R.T. is most commonly used to treat conditions related to adhesions or scar tissue in overused muscles. Adhesions build up over time, muscles become shorter and weaker, the motion of muscles and joints are restricted, and nerves can be compressed. As a result, tissues suffer from ischemia (decrease of blood supply), pain, decreased ROM and poor mobility.
Postural Structural Assessment- Structural bodywork utilizes 4-views of the body to determine the best postural functional exercises to restore and maintain the body’s full ROM. Elevation, rotation, compensation and dysfunction are carefully viewed to balance tissues around the skeletal structure.
Active-Assisted Stretching/ROM- Active Assisted stretching will properly train/re-train muscle memory & joint stability to help strengthen weak areas due to a repetitive stress injury, chronic holding patterns, acute, sub-acute, & chronic injuries.
Sports & Rehabilitative- Sports & Rehab bodywork works with the prepping & maintaining of repetitive used muscles & joints to be fully supported for short & long term events. Designed in three categories, pre, post, & maintenance, sport activities use groups of muscles that result in muscle imbalances, compensations & repetitive stress. Sports & Rehab prepares the body for any activity, prevents injury, and increases recovery time.
Kinesio Tape- The Kinesio Taping® Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio® Tex Tape is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions.
Deep Muscle Work- is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various strokes, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, decrease muscle reflex activity, inhibit motor-neuron excitability, promote relaxation and well-being and as a recreational activity.
